Mbale College of Health Sciences was government-founded in 1958. UHPAB-accredited Diplomas in clinical medicine, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Anaesthesia and Certificates in Pharmacy & Medical Theatre.
The Diploma in Clinical and Community Nutrition is a three-year programme designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills to assess nutritional needs and provide dietary interventions for both individuals and populations. Graduates are prepared to work as community nutritionists or clinical nutrition assistants, supporting healthcare teams in hospitals, public health programs, and community outreach initiatives.
The curriculum covers human physiology, biochemistry, and nutrient metabolism in the first year, progressing to medical nutrition therapy, nutritional assessment, and public health nutrition in the second year. The final year includes community diagnosis, programme planning, and management of nutrition-related diseases, along with a supervised practical attachment at a health facility or community nutrition project.
Course Outline
For
Diploma in Clinical and Community Nutrition, one should have got at least a
Principal pass in either Biology or food and nutrition and a minimum of two
subsidiary passes in relevant Health science disciplines.
Students with authentic Certificates and any other professional
academic awards acquired after successful completion of Health-related
Programmes from accredited health institutions are encouraged to apply

All results, should have been acquired in a single sitting of the national final
examinations
Graduates can work as Pharmacy Assistant in Hospital or Health Centre Pharmacies, Drug Shop Attendant, Pharmaceutical Stores Assistant, or pursue further study toward Diploma in Pharmacy.
