The Certificate in Theatre Techniques is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the practical skills and technical knowledge required for backstage production in theatre, film, and live events. Graduates are prepared to work as competent theatre technicians, stagehands, or production assistants, supporting technical directors and production managers in theatres, concert venues, film sets, and event production companies.
Curriculum Overview
The programme blends hands-on technical training with production experience:
Core Technical Skills: Instruction covers theatrical terminology, stagecraft techniques, set construction and painting, and proper use of hand and power tools while observing essential safety standards .
Production Areas: Students explore lighting design and operation, sound reinforcement, stage rigging, properties construction, costume construction, and basic stage management .
Practical Experience: Students participate in theatre lab productions and hands-on practicum experiences, applying their skills to real performances and events .
Applicants
must have attained a minimum of a principal pass in English, mathematics, biology,
chemistry, physics, or any other categorical subject in a single sitting of
their O’ Level final exams or their equivalent.
